World Peace by Sarah

World Peace can happen! Just believe in it … Hi my name Sarah –Jean. I believe if we all try hard enough we can make world peace! If you don’t think you should try too! we can make a different world, a different place for everyone to live in a safe and peaceful world . World Peace is an ideal of freedom, Peace, and happiness among and within all nations and/or people. World Peace is an idea of planetary non-violence by which nations willingly cooperate. If we could get world peace, we could help others have peace! No more WARS!! Only 11 Countries in the world are currently at peace, a shocking new study has revealed. Out of 162 countries, 151 of the world’s nations are currently involved in some form of conflict. Naturally or by virtue of a system of governance that prevents warfare. War is defined as an active conflict that has claimed more than 1,000 lives. Of the past 3,400 years humans have been entirely at peace for 268 of them, or just 8 percent of recorded history. At least 108 million people were killed in wars in the twentieth century. In the world’s most difficult and dangerous conflicts Local peace builders are making a real difference. Every day they risk their lives to build peace and prevent conflict in the places where it starts – locally. World Peace Day 21st September! These local heroes can work in places outsiders can’t reach. And stay long after the immediate danger has passed. They work tirelessly for the future of their country because it is, quite simply, their home. Post cards for peace! Local people have the power to find their own solutions to conflict – and to builed their own better futures Together we can make this happen!! We can make WORLD PEACE

Finally we Landed.

Finally we landed... on the moon. I stepped off the ship and I died- I forgot to put on my space suit. But oh well… A few years later I saw that humans had colonised the moon. Who cares if I’m not alive any more. :(

"I may only be one person, but I can be one person that makes a difference."
Maybe we should make this our school mantra...

More food for thought.

Stoats

Stoats are cute and fuzzy
Stoats run fast when they see a Whio
But they are still cute
When they're eating Whio 

Eleri Poetry

Forest
There are trees around,
Lots of trees and lots of leaves,
It is a forest.
Candy Land
Tall taffy trees tower over mustard falls,
Slimy slippery slugs and snails with banana butter fudge icing on top,
Here’s a candyfloss river,
And there’s some lemon lip-gloss,
Chocolate cats and liquorice lice,
And next thing you know it,
Are melon mice.

Animals
Woof went the dog,
Meow went the cat,
The bird goes tweet,
The sheep goes baa,
The animals growl,
The animals squeak.

Cats

Cats are cute and fast.
They make you happy and are a blur
 when they run past
They love you when you feed them
But when they pee you can smell it from a mile away 

My Anzac day

Walking up in the morning ready to see the service no one is up yet so I see the news its not on yet so I go on the laptop I forget the news cause I was killing the enemy faces in my mig 21... But that's lie I was getting spawn killed by the U.S. That's how the U.S won the cold war. I think.

As the poppies grow by Eleri

The soldiers die as the poppies grow
Bringing forth life anew
Mothers weeping for their sons
Lost in war while only young
Mournful sorrowness spread over the fields
As poppies bloom red
With the blood of the soldiers who fought til dead
Now on ANZAC day
We remember those who fought in war
Their bravery and courage
We'll be ever grateful for.
Lest we forget.

The bad war

The  war started at 8:15
guns
Are going crazy
I was
getting amo so our team
will win no !!!!!
I got shot
poppies will grow
on top over me
when soldiers die
there will
Bea a blood stream
Poppies will grow
Everywhere
The brave soldiers
Fought for peace
The water looks better
Now because
There is blue water
Not red

My Anzac poem

As the soldiers died
New Zealand hoped that they would win
Zillions of people died
Anzac soldiers thought it would be fun
Country's fought to win

Irene Poem

If you don’t know what jelly tip chocolate is
It is creamy milk chocolate as a base and
A delicious jelly centre

With some  white chocolate on top

Wati War Poem

Guns ,guns
I hate guns
They are dangerous
They shoot black bullets
War, war
I hate war
 War is dangerous
I like soldiers
Soldiers march into battle
To face the enemy

We want the wars to end .

Ayla, poetry

Storm
The rain goes pitter-patter!
The thunder goes boom!
The lightning goes crash!
The people go AHH!
Rainforest
I like the taste of water
Runny on my tongue
I like the smell of moist
Mingling on my nose
I like the feel of moss
Squishy on my feet
I like the sound of birds
Tweeting in my ears
I like the look of tree fungi

Platforms for the ants

Maia's ANZAC poem

Poppy’s like                   Maia’s ANZAC poem
To grow in
Bloody fields
And people cry
For peace

People went to
War for
Us poppies come
To life
From death

People are
Depressed
People want to
Go to their
Families because
They’re fighting
They went to war for us.

Last year we were involved with running a huge benefit concert for Nepal Earthquake relief. 14 bands over two stages on the Sunday of the October bank holiday weekend. We had an awesome day rocking to the talented sounds of Invercargill and National bands. GO to our FB page to see the photos!

ANZACs by Ayla

The war began
My heart pounded like a drum
Against my chest
I suddenly felt that this
Wasn't the fun I had hoped for
I heard the screams of the soldiers
Before they fell over dead
I was lost in the commotion
I slid forward
SPLASH!
I was in a trench full
Of water
A strong hand grabbed my arm
He was my friend
He saved me from drowning
Suddenly
Every thing went black
Blood poured from me
Poppies flooded
The upturned ground
Where my soul
Now lives
LEST WE FORGET

Our Peace Sign

As part of our involvement with Postcards for Peace, the students designed a peace sign and this hangs next to our ANZAC memorial fence in our school playground.

Guns and bombs

Guns
Poppies are red
Red as blood
Violets are blue
Blue as the water
They left their homes
To fight for you
They could've been
In the sun
But they chose to shoot the gun
Poppies are a sign that
We will remember them
